Apply for Dominican Citizenship

Discover how to easily apply for Dominican citizenship with clear steps, expert tips, and official resources.

Step 1: Select Your Trusted Agent

  • The initial step of the application process requires you to choose an Authorised Agent from the official list.

  • These agents are the only individuals legally permitted to handle and submit Citizenship by Investment applications.

  • They are officially licensed by the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU) to act on behalf of the main applicant.

  • The CBIU does not accept direct submissions, meaning all applications must be processed through a designated authorised agent.

Step 2: Contact Your Trusted Agent

  1. Consult with your Authorised Agent to strategically prepare all documentation for your CBI application.

  2. You will be required to complete all official forms, undergo a mandatory medical examination, and gather supporting documents.

  3. All paperwork must be submitted in English and must undergo the necessary notarization and legalization to be considered valid.

  4. If you choose the real estate option, you must have a formal sales and purchase agreement for your property in place.

Step 3: Application Evaluation

1.The agent will handle all correspondence with the CBIU on your behalf.

2.They will manage all queries, questions, or requests for additional information that may arise during the review process.

3.The agent serves as your primary point of contact, streamlining communication to ensure a smooth application process.

Required documents for Dominica citizenship application

1.Valid Passport: A copy of your current passport with at least six months of validity remaining.

2.Proof of Funds: Documents like bank statements and asset verification.

3.Birth Certificate: A certified, legalized, or apostilled color copy.

4.Police Clearance: A certificate of good conduct from your birth country, current residence, and any country you’ve lived in for over six months in the last 10 years. Must be issued within three months of submission.

5.Medical Certificate: A completed form with blood, urine, and HIV test results, dated within three months of submission.

6.Proof of Investment: Documentation of your real estate or fund contribution.

7.Passport-sized Photos: Recent photos meeting specific requirements.

Step 4: Due Diligence Review and Decision

  • Your application will undergo a thorough due diligence background check to verify the information and documents you submitted.

  • All applicants aged 16 and over are required to attend a mandatory interview.

  • The CBIU will review your file and consider the findings from both the due diligence report and the interview before making a recommendation to the Government.

  • You will be informed of your application’s status via a letter sent to your Authorised Agent.

  • The status will state whether your application has been approved in principle, is still being processed due to a delay, or has been denied.

Step 5: Investment and Citizenship Issuance

  • Upon receiving your letter of “approval in principle,” you will be instructed to fulfill your investment obligation.

  • You must then make the payment for your chosen option, whether it’s a contribution to the Economic Diversification Fund (EDF) or the full purchase of a real estate property.

  • Once proof of this payment is received, the CBIU will issue your official Certificate of Naturalisation.

  • This certificate serves as definitive evidence of your new citizenship.

  • You or your Authorised Agent can then use this certificate to apply for your Dominican passport.
