Apply for Antigua & Barbuda Citizenship

Discover how to easily apply for Antigua & Barbuda citizenship with clear steps, expert tips, and official resources.

Step 1: Choose & Contact an Agent

  • All applications must be submitted through a licensed agent. These agents are authorized by the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU).

  • They will guide you, help assemble your documents, and act as your liaison with the CIU.

Step 2: Select Investment Option

Decide which investment route you’ll use (e.g. National Development Fund, Real Estate, Business Investment, University Fund) depending on your finances, timeline, and goals.

Step 3: Gather & Complete Application Forms & Documents

You’ll need to fill out specific forms such as:

  • Form AB1 (Application)

  • AB2 (Photo & Signature)

  • AB3 (Medical Certificate)

  • AB4 (Investment Confirmation)

  • And supporting documents: passports, birth certificates, police certificates (for all places lived ≥ 6 months since age 18), proof of address, bank statements, proof of funds/wealth, etc.

Step 4: Submit Application & Due Diligence

  • The agent will submit your full application package to CIU. Initial fees include the due diligence fee (for each applicant over a certain age) and typically 10% of the government processing fee.

  • CIU will review your application and documents. Additional info may be requested. Sometimes interviews may be required. The background checks (due diligence) assess criminal record, source of funds, etc.

Step 5: Receive Letter of Approval / Final payment and Issuance of Citizenship

  • If approved, you’ll get a Letter of Approval. After that, you’ll pay remaining fees (balance of government processing fee, passport fee, and make your investment or contribution depending on the option selected).

  • Once all payments and investments are confirmed, a Certificate of Registration of Citizenship is issued. You then apply for the passport. An oath or affirmation of allegiance must be taken — either in Antigua & Barbuda or at a consular office/embassy.
